Mega Dimension, the Paid DLC in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, has been announced in the September 2025 Nintendo Direct!
As shown in the Official Japanese website, the Mega Dimension DLC is set to release this Winter before February 28, 2026!

At the end of the reveal trailer, the iconic symbol for Mega Evolution popped up. This could likely tease that Mega Evolution will not only be present, but will have a major role in the game!
The February 2025 Pokemon Presents has also revealed some of the Mega Evolutions from previous games. Other than these, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is likely to feature some new Mega Evolutions for returning fan favorites and starters!
New Mega Evolution Pokemon in Legends Z-A

As shown in the Final Trailer and the September Nintendo Direct, the Kalos Starters, Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja will finally have their Mega Evolutions!
Their Mega Stones can only be obtained as Rewards by participating in Ranked Battles via the Z-A Battle Club.

Two new Mega Evolutions for Raichu is set to release in the DLC! Mega Raichu will have an X and a Y variant similar to Charizard and Mewtwo!

Following teasers around a Malamar taking over Pokemon's socials, a Mega Malamar was revealed on September 10th, 2025! Mega Malamar is the fourth new Mega Evolution announced for the game.

Mega Hawlucha was revealed in a pro-wrestling inspired match on August 28, 2025. It is the third new Mega Evolution announced for the game.

Mega Victreebel was revealed in a spooky trailer on August 21, 2025. Mega Victreebel is the second new Mega Evolution announced for the game.
Notably, this Pokemon is from Generation 1, the same as Dragonite. There is a chance that even more Generation 1 Pokemon may be given Mega Evolutions in this game.

Mega Dragonite was also revealed in the July 22, 2025 Pokémon Presents! Mega Dragonite is the first new Mega Evolution announced for this game.
The July 22, 2025 Pokémon Presents also revealed new information about the game. This includes Mega Dragonite, returning characters such as Emma and Mable, and Rogue Mega Evolutions, which serve as the game’s raid battles!

The Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games have been slated for release on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Preorders will begin Thursday, June 5, on Nintendo eShop.

An enhanced Switch 2 Edition of the game has also been announced. This version takes advantage of the Switch 2's more powerful hardware for a better performing experience.

The Nintendo Direct that aired on March 27, 2025 revealed the Z-A Royale, a nightly tournament held in Luimiose City that allows the player to engage in Trainer Matches and Promotional Matches within the city's battle zones.

The trailer also featured the Prism Tower from Lumiose City, which was a location in the Kalos region in Pokemon X and Y.
A tweet from the Nintendo of America Twitter/X account has revealed that Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set within Lumiose City. No further details were mentioned, but it seems like the game will focus on developing the city itself.

Pokemon Presents 2025 confirmed that the starter Pokemon for Pokemon Legends: Z-A are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile! This could also mean that their Mega Evolutions are finally going to happen!
This follows the setup of having mixed generation starters similar to Pokemon Legends Arceus, with Chikorita and Totodile originating from Johto and Tepig from Unova.

AZ makes a return from Pokemon X and Y as confirmed on the Pokemon Presents 2025 trailer. He has been revealed to run the hotel that the protagonist stays at in the city.
He may have a prominent role in Pokemon Legends: Z-A due to the title of the game being the reverse of his name.

Move summaries are shown instead of Action Order now.
Pokemon Legends Z-A's battle system is no longer turn based unlike previous Pokemon titles as confirmed on Pokemon Presents 2025. Action Orders are no longer present and have been replaced by move cooldowns.
