it also makes you able to dash straight down, no idea how to do it consistently, it kinda just happens at random whenever I use it in the air

It moves you backwards quickly for as long as you hold the command down. You crawl like a spider from the deepnest in Hollow Knight. Can be used to quickly create distance between you and an enemy.
