The Phantom is a boss whose attacks are quick and sudden, so the Silkspear can help you attack them without needing to get close.

Given the speed of the boss, the Warding Bell can shield you while you heal—countering any attacks that come into contact while you bind.

For longer survivability, bring the Fractured Mask and the Magnetite Dice. Fractured Mask will give you an extra expendable life, while the Magnetite Dice can make you invulnerable at random times.

The Reaper Crest's crescent slash can cover a wider coverage and make landing hits a lot easier. If you attack the boss after healing without getting hit, this crest will generate silk balls that you can pick up to fill your Silk gauge faster.

The Hunter's Crest is also viable for this fight. Its swifter moveset allows you to deal faster strikes in a shorter amount of time, but you will need to account for its diagonal Pogo Jumps when trying to pogo off the Phantom.

The Phantom is a secret boss you can find in the Exhaust Organ located in Bilewater. You will need to complete the Mist Puzzle in that zone in order to find it.

How to Find Phantom

How to Get to Phantom

To get to the Phantom, you will need to traverse through Bilewater and get to the Exhaust Organ. However, the area in Bilewater is covered in a mist puzzle that prevents you from reaching the boss. If you take a wrong turn, the puzzle resets, and you will be returned to the start.

Use the Needolin on the Butterflies

To solve the Mist Puzzle in Bilewater, you need to find the white butterflies in each area and play the Needolin near them. After playing the Needolin, the butterflies will guide you out of the mist and you will be able to reach the Exhausted Organ.

If you get hit while the Magnetite Dice is in your crest, there is a chance that you will be shielded from damage. This effect happens at random, but it is still useful to have and may just save you if you are in a tight spot.

In between attacks, the Phantom has a few frames where it stands still and you can get a clean hit before they do their next move.

When the Phantom dashes during a Dash Attack or a Spear Throw, you can use this opportunity to pogo off them—getting an extra hit when you can.

Be Careful of Their Parry

The Phantom Guards Themselves

Avoid hitting the Phantom when they are holding their spear in front of them. If you hit the Phantom while they are guarding, they will do a counter attack that can cost you multiple hearts.

Phantom Attack Patterns

Jump Attack

The Phantom leaps into the air, then throws its spear down diagonally.

Parry

The Phantom guards themselves with their spear. If they get a successful parry, it will trigger a counter attack where they lunge forward and back with the spear.

Dash Attack

The Phantom dashes forward while piercing the air in front of it 3 times in a row.

Spear Throw

The Phantom throws its spear across the arena then dashes after it.

Super Jump Attack

The Phantom jumps up and disappears from sight. Shortly after, a white beam of light appears on a wide section of the arena where the Phantom will slam down—harming anyone caught in the AoE.

Phantom Rewards

Cross Stitch

After defeating the Phantom, you will gain the Cross Stitch skill. When using the Cross Stitch skill, any attacks made by enemies will be instantly parried, and Hornet will unleash a devastating cross-shaped AoE.
