Lucian's Flank is the best Assault Rifle in the game due to having the trait Trample. This allows you to regain up to 2 ammo by dealing critical hits to an enemy, potentially making your magazine infinite as long as you aim your shots at enemy weakspots.

Lucian's Flank can be obtained by defeating the Meathead Riders boss in the Old Scrape Ripper Drill Site.

Alternative Assault Rifle

Aegon

Aegon's Dream can serve an alternative if you don't have Lucian's Flank yet. Aegon's Dream comes with the Prophetic trait that allows it to fire Incendiary and Cryo bullets, making it a good versatile weapon.

Aegon's Dream can be obtained by defeating Horace during the main mission Down and Outbound.

Best Shotgun

Convergence

The Convergence is the best Shotgun in the game due to having the trait Asymptotic. This trait deals repeating damage from your shotgun displayed by the criss-crossing bullets that hit enemies after your initial shot. This repeating damage can also deal critical hits on its own even if you did not hit a weakspot!

Obtain the convergence by defeating Bramblesong in the Bittervein Auger Mine.

Alternative Shotgun

Hot Slugger

The Hot Slugger is a viable alternative if you don't have the Convergence yet. This shotgun comes with the Blazing Barrel trait that increases its damage by 30% on enemy kill. This effects lasts for 10 seconds and can stack for a maximum of 3 times.

Obtain the Hot Slugger by defeating Callous Harbinger in the Craven's Nook Bunker.

Best Submachine Gun

Hellfire

The Hellfire is not only the best SMG but is also one of the best incendiary weapons in the game! This weapon is most effective against flesh enemies, making it exceptionally strong for builds that focus on Incendiary damage.

You can obtain the Hellfire by defeating Skyspanner Skratch in the Lambent Mine.

Best Sniper Rifle

Complex Root

The Complex Root takes the top spot for the best Sniper Rifle in the game. This gun has the Sierpinski trait that spawns diverging projectiles in its path, dealing the same elemental damage that the gun deals.

This results in excellent damage overtime if used against an enemy that is weak to the gun's element. You can obtain this weapon by defeating Mimicron in the Tipping Point Bunker.
