Gurr the Outcast moves around and burrows frequently during the fight, leaving you with only a handful of openings to attack. Given this, you'll need skills, tools, and attacks that can deal a ton of damage quickly when the boss shows up.

Cogfly allows you to deal passive damage while you attack, and its target-seeking mechanic is effective against the boss's fast movements. Voltvessels can be placed in certain spots once the boss shows up and deal a ton of damage.

For defensive tools, Fractured Mask and/or Magnetite Dice increases your survivability during the fight, especially against the expanding blades.

Witch Crest's Silk Bind attack gives you another reliable source of burst damage when the boss shows up.

If you do not have the Witch Crest, then the Reaper Crest is a good alternative. When you hit an opponent after healing, Silk Balls will appear in the air, and you can collect them to refill your threadspool faster. This will help you get your Thread Storm up sooner.

Watch Out for the Stream of Dust

Gurr will frequently burrow in one spot and emerge from another, then perform an attack. This limits your opportunities for attack. Luckily, you will see a big stream of dust on the spot where Gurr will emerge from, allowing you react accordingly. It's best to exploit this pattern and prepare a plan of attack.

Placing Voltvessels on the exact spots where Gurr will emerge from is a great strategy you can use to take advantage of the pattern. However, you do need to execute the strategy fast and precisely as the boss will only show up for a few seconds before burrowing again.

Move Away from the Shurikens

An attack that Gurr frequently does during the fight is throwing shurikens around. Those shurikens stay at different spots for a while, then grow larger. You need to keep moving positions to avoid these shurikens, especially once they grow bigger, since you'll take damage if you go near them.

Gurr throws multiple shurikens in different directions. These shurikens will stay in place for a while, grow larger, then disappear afterwards.

The only way to avoid getting hit is to simply move away from the shurikens. However, since they're scattered, you'll need to find the safest spot to stay until they grow and disappear.

Gurr charges towards the other end of the arena, then burrows underground. You only need to jump to avoid getting hit while Gurr is charging.

While burrowed underground, Gurr summons bone spikes to emerge from the ground. You only need to watch out for the streams of dust on the ground and move away from them to avoid getting hit.

Gurr the Outcast Rewards

Grass Doll

After defeating Gurr the Outcast, you'll gain access to the room next to the boss's arena where you can get the Grass Doll for The Hidden Hunter objective.
